Drug investigation continues at Stevenson High School

Phones confiscated from students at suburban high school

    LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill.—

The superintendent who oversees Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire is responding to outrage over a drug sweep at the school.

Police arrested one student, and are investigating several others, for allegedly possessing, dealing, or attempting to sell drugs.

As part of their probe, officers confiscated students’ cell phones and read their text messages.

Some parents and students are unhappy this happened but the district says the school has a right to take action.

Stevenson’s spokesman also said rumors about the number of suspensions handed out were greatly exaggerated, but would not say how many students were suspended.
